As in the games at the group stage of the 'African Cup of Nations', VfB left full-back Arthur Boka was left on the substitute's bench for the full duration as the Ivory Coast took on Algeria in the quarter finals of the competition. Boka was to remain a spectator of a dramatic tie which saw 'The Elephants' beaten 3-2 in extra-time.
Ending a run of 23 consecutive games without defeat, the Ivory Coast miss out on a place in the semi-finals of the continental tournament and Boka is subsequently expected back in Stuttgart this week.
